A Review of Troy Bilt Self Propelled Lawn Mowers

Walk behind lawn mowers are made for households with smaller lawn areas. They are the highest selling lawn machine type in the world. You have the option of either buying a push drive mower or if you want more control and steering capability then you should consider getting a self propelled walk behind garden mower.

There are many popular brands out there on the market. To name few of them, you have John Deere, Toro, Husqvarna, and you also have Troy Bilt. TB is offering six models in the walk behind range. All of them are competitively priced and there is also a good warranty offered on them.

TB210

Built with a 190cc engine along with a Briggs and Stratton Starting Promise, many people have found this model very dependable and easy to use. This front wheel self propelled mower has a single speed motor, a 21" cutting deck, and a TriAction cutting system technology. It is probably Troy Bilt most popular model.

TB230

It has similar features to the TB 210 in terms of engine power and drive system. However this model has a variable speed motor easily changed with a squeeze grip. Some users find the model easy and comfortable to use. As a matter of fact, Troy Bilt has included a 6 position dual lever deck height adjuster and 3-position heights adjuster for the handle. There have been great reviews on this model

TB250

If you are looking for well known Japanese reliability then you should consider the TB 250 3-in-1 variable speed front wheel drive mower. Built with a powerful 160cc Honda engine, it has all the features Troy Bilt has to offer on the other models. Something that is different on this model compared to the first two is the starting system which is Automatic Return Choke System (ARCS).

TB270 ES

If you want to be able to start your mower with a key turn and nothing fancy, then the TB 270 ES is a good choice. The electric start is a great feature enjoyed by many users. Expect the same other features on the engine, drive system, and comforts compared to the other self propelled models.

TB325 XP

This model has a 3-in-1 capability - side discharge, mulching, and rear bag. It comes with a powerful 160cc Honda engine and a 4-speed continuous variable speed transmission system. Other notable features include a 21" steel mulching deck and a 3 year warranty for peace of mind. There have a mixed review on this model, but overall a TB210 or TB230 are cheaper models to consider.

TB340 XP

The last self propelled lawn mower in the walk behind range is the TB340 XP. Built with a 175cc Briggs and Stratton engine and a 4-speed continuous variable speed transmission, this rear wheel self propelled mower will go through half an acre of lawn in less than an hour. This model from Troy Bilt has received a lot of negative reviews from customers. Issues with durability and ease of starting are the two main reasons.
